Boracay at a Glance

Majestic Boracay ✨

Last year, on August 10, we went to one of the best islands in the Philippines—THE Boracay. It is known for its pristine beaches, a long stretch of powdery white sand, crystal clear and azure waters, and of course, a stunning sunset. We spent our post-nuptial vacation here.

There are two airports to get to the island: Caticlan Airport (Godofredo P. Ramos) and Kalibo International Airport. We chose Caticlan airport as our entry point because of its convenience and proximity to Boracay island compared to Kalibo. The trip takes only 10 minutes on a tricycle and 15 minutes on a boat. If you choose to enter through Kalibo, you will need to take a bus or van to the Caticlan Jetty port, which takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. After arriving at the port, you will still have to take the 15-minute boat ride to Boracay Island.

We booked transfers from the airport to the hotel and vice versa to avoid the hassle. Our package included van transfers from and to Jetty port, boat fees, terminal and environmental fees, hotel shuttle, and tour coordinator assistance.

Our first hotel was Hennan Lagoon Resort. It was one of the 5-star resorts on the island and is known for a luxurious and tranquil escape for travelers who seek a memorable vacation. It is located at Station 2 along the island’s main road and has breathtaking landscape.

Hennan Lagoon Resort (Morning & Evening View)

Due to the exhaustion caused by the entire day of wedding preparations, ceremony, and fete, we fell asleep the whole afternoon and woke up at twilight. We were only out of the room for dinner. After that, we took a dip at the lagoon pool.

We woke up the following morning and had our complimentary buffet breakfast at Lagoon Café before embarking on an exploration of the White Beach's beauty.

Buffet breakfast with a view

Though breakfast menu of Lagoon Café has variety of options, since I am not a fan of buffet breakfast, I only enjoyed western breakfast (eggs, waffle, pancakes, bacon, etc.) while hubs tried everything he could concoct and consume.

Enjoyed the beach after a sumptuous breakfast. ♡

We then headed to Fairways and Bluewater Resort after checking out of Hennan. The resort is situated in Station 1, and it boasts a golf course and landscapes, as well as its own 'private' beach that is far from most of the rooms and restaurants. It also has shuttle that will take you to all of their facilities that you like to go to, and the D' Mall. The resort is very secluded. The private beach of Fairways and Bluewater is calmer than the one located in Station 2 which we preferred.

It was gloomy and rainy when we were in Fairways.

We went swimming at Laguna pool which was located beside Boracay Newcoast. Then, we headed to Kudetah District where we spent our afternoon and early evening. We had dinner at Kudetah Trattoria,  one of the restobar in the area.

The rain was heavy that night, so we made cheese ramen in our room. The morning after, we had our complimentary buffet breakfast at Monterey Cafe & Bar.

Chose western breakfast again while hubs tried everything in the menu.

We rested in the room after our morning meal. For our last hotel, we checked in to Banana Bay which is located in Sitio Bolabog. The rooms exude tropical and aesthetic vibes. It also has a pool that is 6 feet deep (I guess).

Banana Bay Boracay is an eco-luxury boutique hotel that was built with the help of local artisans using locally sourced materials. The hotel supports eco-tourism by providing a water refilling station, refillable shampoo and shower gels. Check out their website for more information.

After we were settled, we returned to Station 2 to enjoy the beach and sunset as the beach in front of the hotel was calm and had low tide which was not what we preferred. We returned to the hotel after dinner, took a swim in the pool, and watched Netflix.

The following day, we ate our free breakfast at Monkey Tree Cafe + Bar. This time, the breakfast was plated and it was the best meal I ever had during our stay in Boracay. Notice how appetizing it was.

I was so happy with our breakfast. Hubs also enjoyed his beef tapsilog. The food in Monkey Tree Cafe was tasty and worth it.

To sum up, our stay in Boracay was both relaxing and exhausting at the same time as we went hotel hopping. We had no expectations or plans since we only wanted to take a good rest after the long season of wedding preparations.

For us, Boracay was a great place to spend vacation. Even though it was already too commercialized and designed to meet the needs of foreigners, you can still enjoy it if you know how to be practical in where you will eat, or what activities you will do on the island. If we decide to come back, we'll choose to stay in Station 1 or 2, which is close to the island's life and next to the stunning white beach.

If you're planning to go to Boracay, I hope this blog has given you some insights to prepare for your trip. Regardless, I hope you got at least a sense of what life is like on the island.

Here's my little reminder for you..

Always take a moment to slow down and enjoy life.
